9,850 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails

In a recent statistics report the PA prisoner's affairs ministry stated that the occupation authorities still detain more that 9,850 Palestinian prisoners distributed in more than 30 jails including 40 lawmakers and 7 cabinet ministers.

The ministry clarified that amongst the detainees are 105 women and 359 children, pointing out in its report that 90 of the children are ill yet deprived of any health care or treatment.

The report pointed out that the occupation authorities still applies internationally prohibited punitive measures on Palestinian prisoners.

In a related matter, the occupation authorities extended the detention period of the abducted Palestinian finance minister for 10 days.

While an Israeli military court in Salfit issued an indictment list against Deputy Nasser Abdel-Jawad.

Furthermore, occupation authorities in the Negev prison extended the administrative arrest of Bilal Al-Hashlamon, 42, for another 6 months claiming that he posed a threat to the area's security.

In another development, within the savage policy the occupation authorities is applying, closing of routes and isolating villages in a bid to weaken the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, the occupation forces isolated nearly 2,500 Palestinian citizens, residents of Samo' village, south of Hebron (Al-Khalil) city, from the outside world closing the main route using cement cubes.

The village mayor called up on all concerned parties and human rights institutions to intervene to remove these cement cubes and reopen the main route for the people of the village.

A similar measure was adopted by the IOF at the outskirts of Ramallah city where it closed the Qalandia road barrier blocking traffic before thousands of citizens wishing to enter or get out of Ramallah.
